How to Vote
Have a plan to vote in the upcoming primary!
New Jersey elections offer three methods to allow voters to make their voices heard:
Vote By Mail
Voters who wish to receive a vote-by-mail ballot can follow instructions here or contact their county clerk.
After filling your ballot, there are THREE ways to return your ballot:

Mail: Ballots returned via mail must be postmarked on or before 8:00 p.m. on Election Day and received by Essex County’s Board of Elections on or before the sixth day after the polls close.

Secure Ballot Drop Box: Return your vote-by-mail ballot in one of Essex County’s secure drop boxes by 8:00 p.m. on election day. Local drop-off boxes can be found HERE.

Board of Elections Office: You can return your ballot in person to Essex County’s Board of Elections office by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. Essex County Elections Board office is located at 495 Dr Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Newark, NJ 07102.
Vote Early In Person
All registered voters have the option to vote early in-person between May 29th and June 2nd. You can vote at any Essex County polling station found here.
You can vote early in Newark at any of the following locations:

Vote on Election Day
Registered voters can vote at their designated polling locations throughout Newark. Polls will be open June 4th from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

On March 29, 2024, a federal judge ordered the state of New Jersey to redesign its primary voting ballots. Beginning in the upcoming primary, county lines will be eliminated.
